“Kanyakumari police stand first in the State”

They recover articles worth

Rs. 3.39 crore

They register 434 theft cases and solve 336 cases


Nagercoil: The Kanyakumari district police stood first in the State by taking action against criminals (93 per cent) and recovery of stolen articles (80 percent), said District Revenue Officer B. Jothi Nirmala.

Speaking on the occasion of a multi-media campaign organised by the Information and Public Relations Department on Monday, she said that the police in Kanyakumari district was a model for other districts.

When the district was hit by tsunami, the rescue efforts undertaken by the police was commendable.

Not only were they protecting the rights of the people, but were also lending a helping hand to them when they were put to hardship, said the DRO. Additional Superintendent of Police V. Pandian said that the worth of stolen articles in the last five years was Rs 4.36 crore.

However, the police recovered articles worth Rs 3.39 crore. The police have registered 434 theft cases and solved 336 cases .

Public Relations Officer Hari Ram, District Forest Officer Thooyamani and Deputy Superintendent of Police Stalin Michel spoke.

Assistant Public Relation Officer Tamil Eniyan proposed a vote of thanks.
