COLOURFUL: (Top) At the annual day celebrations of Achala Vidya Mandira High School, Rajajinagar, and (above) children presenting a drill at the athletic meet of Bangalore Public School, Indiranagar. BANGALORE:The annual sports meet of Bangalore Public School, Indiranagar, was held at Defence Grounds here recently. Students participated with zeal and enthusiasm in the most eagerly awaited event of the year. The meet began with a march-past led by the school and house captains. National swimming sensation K.A. Sinchana was the sports torchbearer. Consultant psychiatrist of Manipal Hospital Shobha Ramesh, who was the chief guest, declared the sports meet open. In her address, she provided tips to the students on how to coordinate the three “Hs” — head, heart and hand. Dr. Shobha provided information to parents on child growth and child-handling. There were interesting track events for children such as frog race, sack race, crowning the Cinderella, honey-honey and three-legged race. And the senior students showed their skills in slow-cycle race, which kept the audience applauding. The events were interspersed with drills such as hoop drill, pom-pom drill, which were lively and rhythmic. The pyramid formation by the senior students drew an applause. Merit scholarships and general proficiency prizes were distributed on the day. A.S. Rekha received the gold medal for scoring the highest marks in the ICSE exam-ination. The Blue House bagged the rolling shield. Annual dayThe annual day celebration of Achala Vidya Mandira High School, Rajajinagar, was held at the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Bhavan here recently. The celebration, titled “Utsav”, showcased the rich cultural heritage of India through various festivals. The show depicted the significance of each festival imbibing the moral and ethical values embedded in it. “Bali yatra”, the show put up by the students, highlighted patriotism and universal brotherhood.
