As the valour and bravery of Tamilians can be proved only by taming the animals by people in groups, it is for the Government to decide to revoke the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. It would not affect the conscience of the people because majority of people are eating flesh of animals as food. Hence is it necessary to ban jallikattu any more? Unless people think otherwise about valour and bravery, animals have to suffer and to be slaughtered. A.Vivekanantham, Madurai Congested roadA general and maternity hospital on Chithirakara Street has been doing a yeomen service to the poor for the past 60 years. Loading and unloading goods from cargo vehicles are carried out from dawn to dusk on this street. When patients are being rushed to the hospital during emergencies, the ambulance/other vehicles are caught in the chaotic traffic, especially between slow-moving tri-cycles. I request the Collector to visit the spot and fix timings for loading and unloading goods so that the street is clear for regular vehicular traffic and emergency cases, at other times. S.N.M.T. Nagarajan, Madurai Dynasty ruleHereditary succession to power and party is a curse on democracy. It is negation of democracy. The argument projected by ‘vested interests’ as successor is more fit than any other is false and purposeful. Whatever said against hereditary succession to power will not be followed. Only an amendment to constitution to ban such hereditary succession on any projected merit will terminate it. A.Vivekanantham Madurai Inappropriate venueBibikulam has become one of the busiest road junctions in Madurai, an area where Central Government offices, apartments and hospitals are situated. All political parties are conducting meetings at Bibikulam junction by erecting temporary stage, placing chairs on road and playing blaring music from morning till night. Moreover many city buses and school buses ply through this junction. School children have a difficult time crossing this place. It is high time such roadside meeting are prohibitedf at this important road junction. This will bring immense relief to the residents. R.G.Rethinam, Madurai
