It’s a closed chapter, says Puttige swamiji

Udupi: Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Puttige Math said on Monday that the issue of worshipping Lord Krishna at Sri Krishna Math/temple “is a closed chapter.”

He told presspersons here that Sri Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji of Shiroor Math was co-operating with him in conducting ‘pujas’ to Lord Krishna. “Sri Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, Sri Vidyavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of Kaniyur Math and some other seers of the ‘Ashta Maths’ have agreed to cooperate with me in conducting ‘pujas’ to Lord Krishna,” he said.

Asked if he was touching the idol of Lord Krishna while doing the puja, the swamiji said: “I am worshipping Lord Krishna. That issue is a closed chapter. I will not say anything more on that issue.Efforts to bring about unity among Ashta Maths are going on,” he said. Asked about a constitution for the Ashta Maths’ demanded by him, he said: “All seers of the Ashta Maths have shown interest in this matter.”
