Trucks queue up

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: It was a rather cold wait for the hundreds of truck drivers who remained stranded along the city border. The strike called against the imposition of speed governors on trucks registered within the State meant that no truck could enter or exit the State.

Truck drivers were seen huddled around campfires all along the border, in an effort to keep themselves warm on the chilly Monday night.

About 2,000 trucks were stranded along the Nelamangala check post and another 3,000 near the Bagepalli check post. About 300 trucks were parked up to six km till the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu.

“About 50 to 60 trucks are parked at the check post near the Karnataka side of the Hosur border,” said Narasimha Reddy, a telephone booth owner at Attibele.
