PUDUCHERRY: The Rajiv Gandhi Breakfast Scheme for government schoolchildren and the evening milk scheme have won the appreciation of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Human Resource Development that was on a visit to the Union Territory. Talking to reporters after a meeting with Education Department officials here on Tuesday, Lok Sabha Member Meinya Thokchom said the schemes were “unique” and appreciated the government for spending money on such schemes for children. The committee asked the government to prepare comprehensive documentation regarding Sarva Siksha Abhiyan so that it could be recommended as a model. The documentation would be submitted to Parliament, he said. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, who called upon the panel members on Tuesday, said their appreciation was a recognition for the government.
