‘Two EAMCET coaching centres in each district’

Minister holds review meeting

Repairs planned during summer vacation

VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Social Welfare Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose has said that Rs. 5,000 crores will be spent in the next four years to improve infrastructure facilities to accommodate 1,100 students against the existing strength of 500 in each of the 636 residential schools.

In the first phase, Rs. 10 crores for each district would be released for providing basic facilities such as furniture and additional accommodation.

At a review meeting with principals of residential schools and social welfare officials at Zilla Parishad conference hall here on Tuesday, Mr. Bose said that the Chief Minister had decided to improve facilities and strengthen the education system and added that executive engineers were instructed to complete repairs during summer vacations.

Welfare officer posts

The Minister said that two coaching centres -- one for boys and other for girls -- would be opened in each district for preparing students for EAMCET. He said the government was considering filling up of 200 welfare officer posts out of the existing 300 vacancies in welfare hostels.

He said that the Chief Minister had stated that all hostels must be treated as special schools.
