SHIMLA: The public sector Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam has once again been awarded the prestigious Golden Peacock National Award for eco-innovation and environmental management activities of its 1,500-MW Nathpa Jhakri power station and the 412-MW Rampur Hydro Electric Power Project, said a company spokesman here on Tuesday. The Golden Peacock Award was received by the Nigam’s Chairman and Managing Director H. K. Sharma from Haryana Governor A. R. Kidwai and Justice P. N. Bhagwati, former Chief Justice of India, at a function in New Delhi. The Institute of Directors had adjudged SJVN for the prestigious award at their 18th World Congress on Total Quality held in New Delhi recently. The country’s largest hydro-power project implemented by SJVN has been practicing the required environment management policies for upgrading ecological balance in the project’s vicinity. Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Department of Information Technology disclosed here on Tuesday that Himachal Pradesh had won the first prize in the State Government Organisations category at the Electronics and Information Technology Exposition-2008 (ELITEX -2008) held on January 17 and 18 in New Delhi.
