Two officials arrested by Lokayukta Police
Staff Correspondent
Chitradurga: Lokayukta police arrested Deputy Director of Pre-University and Vocational Courses G.H. Kattimani here on Monday, while he was allegedly receiving a bribe.
Superintendent of Police (Lokayukta) S.B. Bisnalli told The Hindu that on a complaint filed by lecturer K. Nagaraj of the Government Pre-University College, Kasipur, the arrest was made.
In the complaint, Mr. Nagaraj had said that Mr. Kattimani had been demanding Rs. 5,000 through First Division Assistant Prakash, for withdrawal of notice issued regarding non-payment of salary. Mr. Nagaraj said that a few days ago, he had taken casual leave to undergo surgery. Mr. Kattimani, who visited the college, had taken exception to his absence. He issued a show-cause notice to Mr. Nagaraj, but despite Mr. Nagaraj replying to the notice with details, Mr. Kattimani had threatened to file a false report of absence, thereby withholding his salary. The Lokayukta police caught Mr. Kattimani red-handed while accepting the money. Mr. Prakash has also been arrested for mediating between the two and receiving Rs. 1,500. They would be remanded in judicial custody.
