Educating kids about energy conservation
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: Power distribution company BSES is enlisting school children for giving a fillip to its energy conservation campaign.
As part of the initiative, two interactive sessions were conducted at Amity International School in Saket and New Delhi Public School in Vikaspuri. The third session was held on Tuesday for students of Upras Vidyalya in Vasant Vihar.
The programme, being conducted in BRPL and BYPL areas, plans to cover over 50 schools by December this year.
“The two-hour interactive session conducted by experts from BSES aims at sensitising the students of Classes IX to XII on the immediate need for energy conservation and its methods, international concerns like global warming, and carbon emissions and generation of electricity through renewable resources,” said a BSES spokesperson. He said students and teachers are also shown the process of electricity generation, transmission and distribution.
