Staff Correspondent
Madikeri: Director of Collegiate Education K.V. Kodandaramaiah, on Tuesday, called upon educational institutions to take steps to safeguard and enhance the quality of education in the State and provide the best education to rural students.
He was participating in a two-day programme organised at the Cauvery College in Gonicoppa on enhancing the internal quality of education, sponsored by the NAAC.
Deliberations were on at the international level to enhance the quality of education. Such a step would aid the development of the nation in all spheres, Prof. Kodandaramaiah said, according to a press release here.
India had lagged behind in the higher education sector as less than 10 per cent of students enrolled in degree colleges.
There was a move to increase this percentage to 15 in the next four years, Prof. Kodandaramaiah said. In view of this, it was imperative to pay attention to raise the level of education in the primary, high school and pre-university colleges.
