Congress leaders arrested, released on bail
Dhar (MP): As many as 15 Congress leaders, including State party chief Subhash Yadav, were arrested on Tuesday for alleged violation of prohibitory orders in Badnawar near here even as a bandh was observed in the town to protest against similar arrest of RSS workers.
Mr. Yadav, along with 14 others including former MLAs .Jaipal Singh, Karan Singh Parmar, Bhallu Yadav, party spokesman K. K. Mishra and AICC member Archana Jaiswal, were arrested and later released on bail, Badnawar police station in-charge S. L. Chouhan told PTI. Congress leaders were moving in a group to assess the situation in the town after the communal clash on January 19 that claimed one and left nine persons injured, he said.
Meanwhile, markets remained closed following a bandh call given by the RSS to protest the arrest of 800 Sangh workers for violation of prohibitory orders by taking out a march. They were later released. Though the situation in the town, was under control and the police were keeping a sharp vigil to prevent any untoward incident. PTI
