‘Buddha steered society on the right path’

Special Correspondent

SHIMOGA: Lecturer Parameshwara Alalli of Hosnagar said here on Tuesday that it was, perhaps, Buddha who identified himself as a common man and steered society on the righteous path.

Participating in a seminar on “Buddhanedege Marali Manege” organised by the Karnataka State Dalit Sangharsh Samithi here, he pointed out that while the religious icons of Hinduism, Christianity and Islam claimed themselves as the “children” of Gods, Buddha tried to preach without thrusting his teachings on others.

He said that Buddha rejected it among human beings as he propagated that man could become humane only when he disowned the caste of his birth. State convenor of the Dalit Sangharsh Samithi Lakshminarayana Nagawara inaugurated the seminar.
