Funds sought for small-scale industry

KOCHI: Kerala State Small Industries Association has urged Finance Minister Thomas Isaac to allocate more funds for the small-scale industrial sector in the forthcoming budget. Last year, the government had failed to allot funds for cluster development and capital subsidies, he said. He also demanded that rules on VAT be simplified and that one-time settlement scheme be implemented for those who had arrears in sales tax. —Staff Reporter
