BANGALORE: Dell on Tuesday announced global availability of new ‘blade’ servers targeted at the data centre market. The PowerEdge ‘M’ Series solution is said to have involved a total redesign that resulted in 30 patents. It comes in what is known as a ‘10U’ enclosure. The M 1000e enclosure can take 16 blade servers. In an announcement here, Pallab Talukdar, Dell India’s Director, Enterprise Strategy, said the new offering answered the biggest items on the wish list of data centre operators: reduced power requirement, complexity and ‘server sprawl’. The enclosure would cost Rs. 3.12 lakh while individual blade servers cost just under Rs. 96,148 each in India. — Special Correspondent
