Semifinalists spotted

THANJAVUR: Bharathidasan, Annamalai, Madras and Bangalore entered the semifinal league of the South Zone inter-university hockey tournament here on Tuesday.

The four teams have also qualified for the all-India inter-university tournament, which begins here on Sunday.

The results: Semifinal league: Bharathidasan 1 (Manikandan) bt Bangalore 0; Madras 0 drew with Annamalai 0.

Quarterfinals: Bharathidasan 3 (Irudayaraj, Harikrishnan, Ethiraj) bt Madurai Kamaraj 0; Madras 2 (Vijayakumar 2) bt Mangalore 0; Annamalai 3 (Babu 2, N.S. Rajesh 1) bt Manonmaniam Sundaranar 0; Bangalore 2 (Hari Prasad 2) bt Sri Venkateshwara 0.
