Congress promises rice at Rs. 3 a kg
Correspondent
CHIKMAGALUR: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president M. Mallikarjun Kharge has announced that the Congress, if elected to power, will undertake several popular programmes including construction of 15 lakh houses for the poor and providing rice at Rs. 3 a kg.
Inaugurating the District Congress Sadhana Samavesha in Kadur on Monday, Mr. Kharge blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (Secular) for foisting mid-term elections on the State.
Stating that the two parties had not done any good work, he said they were “power hungry”, and corruption during their rule was unprecedented.
He called on the people to teach them a lesson during the coming elections.
K.M. Krishnamurthy, who represented Kadur constituency in the Legislative Assembly for three consecutive terms as a Janata Dal (S) candidate, joined the Congress along with his followers.
District Congress Committee president K.B. Mallikarjuna presided over the function.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, party leaders V. Somanna, T.B. Jayachandra, D.B. Chandre Gowda, Sageer Ahmed, Motamma, Kagodu Thimappa, T.V. Maruthi, Sudarshan and K.C. Kondaiah were present.
