Congress leaders are misusing Governor’s office, says Yeddyurappa

Staff Correspondent

’There is disunity in that party’

Kaup (Udupi district): Former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said on Tuesday that Congress leaders were misusing the office of the Governor to their convenience.

He was speaking at the “Janajagriti yatre” organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), here. Mr. Yedyyurappa urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to implement the provisions of the budget presented by him last year. “But the Congress leaders are busy advising the Governor to by-pass my budget,” he charged.

Although four months had elapsed after the civic polls, the Governor had not announced the reservation for presidents and vice presidents of urban local bodies. “He (Governor) should stop acting as the agent of the Congress party,” he said.

He said there was disunity among the Congress party leaders. That was proved when they chose to announce in their “Janaandolana” rally in Udupi on Sunday that the Union Minister Oscar Fernandes, MP Janardhan Poojary, and the former Chief Minister M. Veerappa Moily had joined hands to strengthen their party. Mr. Moily and Mr. Poojary were busy following the politics of appeasement, he said.

Mr. Yeddyurappa said that the BJP-Janata Dal (Secular) combine had done better than the Congress-Janata Dal (S) coalition Government. Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda was impressed with our governance.
