SCERT to focus on vocational courses

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A meeting of the Curriculum Committee Frame Work held here at the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) on Tuesday has decided to give more emphasis on vocational courses at the Higher Secondary level.

The meeting chaired by Minister for Education M.A. Baby has also decided to shorten the duration of class hour at the higher secondary level to one hour.

Some of the other major decisions taken at the meeting include revision of text-books in classes I, III, V and VI and the implementation of adolescent education programme after modification. However, the Committee decided to do away with the proposal to stagger school timings.
