Kerala University endowment awards given away

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Health P.K. Sreemathy has promised all government help for the zero-waste Kerala initiative involving students to be organised by the University of Kerala.

The Minister was speaking at the ceremony organised here on Tuesday to give away the 15th endowment awards of the University.

Any message can best be reached to society through students, she said. The government will also consider providing financial assistance to the University’s scheme in which about 20,000 students are expected to take part. Vice-Chancellor M. K. Ramachandran Nair presided over the award ceremony.

Close to 140 endowment awards ranging from Rs.150 to Rs.6,535 were given to about 120 students on Tuesday. The awards were for the year 2004.

They included the Dr. C.N. Purushothaman Nair prize, Professor P.K.B. Nair prize, Prof. P.K. Narayana Pillai prize, Prof. Ayyappan gold medal, Prof. D.V. Chandrasekharan prize, Prof. Nandan Menon prize, the C.V. Kunhuraman memorial medal and the Monsignor Jose Kureethadam gold medal.
