TRS demands white paper on HUDA land ‘deals’
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samiti legislator T. Harish Rao has demanded that the Government release a white paper on the funds mobilised from lands auctioned by Hyderabad Urban Development Authority and the way they were being spent.
Alleging that the Government had diverted Rs. 3,134 crore raised through land auctions for other regions in violation of the stipulations that the proceedings of land auction should be spent in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of HUDA. The Government should forthwith stop auction of lands in Telangana.
Speaking to reporters after attending a meeting of the Estimates Committee of Assembly, Mr. Harish Rao said the officials concerned confirmed in the meeting that the Government had taken over an estimated Rs. 1,734 crore from HUDA so far while steps for diverting another Rs. 1,400 crore were initiated.
“While the HUDA is starved for funds for taking up Outer Ring Road and other projects, the amounts mobilised by it are being diverted to other regions,” he said.
