Rajasthan Patrika institutes annual journalism award

CHENNAI: The Rajasthan Patrika on Tuesday released the brochure for the KCK Award, an annual award for journalism.
January 31 is the last date for entries that should have been published between January 1 and December 31, 2007. Besides the award, consolation prizes in various streams of journalism will also be given. The award, instituted to “uphold and promote value-based journalism, besides honouring and promoting social values,” carries a trophy and $11,000 and is in honour of the memory of Karpoor Chandra Kulish, founder of the newspaper. It was launched by Patricia Sellers, Fortune Editor-at-Large.
‘Human development’ has been identified as the theme for the inaugural year.
Releasing the brochure, the Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, called upon the press to promote communal harmony and condemn violence. Journalists should also fight rampant corruption that stunted the country’s growth.
Dileep Chari, Resident Editor and Manager, Rajasthan Patrika, said the newspaper always championed the cause of journalism and journalists.
