Delhi Government has failed on all counts, says Goel

Staff Reporter

‘Power, water situation has gone from bad to worse’

Says, govt. lacks will to phase out Bluelines

NEW DELHI: Replacing the smiling faces of citizens shown in the “working report” released by the Delhi Government on completion of nine years in office in December 2007 with sad faces and a smiling Chief Minister in a report titled “Sheila Government: Nine years, achievements or failures?”, BJP national secretary Vijay Goel on Tuesday accused the Delhi Government of failing on all counts in living up to the promises made to the people.

Mr. Goel — who released the report along with party vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi in the presence of senior local leaders O.P. Kohli, Lal Behari Tiwari, Pawan Sharma, Ram Bhaj and Delhi MLAs Vijay Jolly, Ramesh Bidhuri, Puran Chand Yogi and Ravinder Nath Bansal — charged that the Delhi Government had been “insensitive” towards the people at large and this had also been reflected in the Chief Minister’s remarks pertaining to people from U.P. and Bihar, Blueline buses, electricity meters and power theft.

The former Union Minister said while no effort had been made to get Delhi full Statehood, the power and water situation had gone from bad to worse: “Delhi is being touted as another Paris, but there is no water or power to realise that dream.”

On the transport front too, he said, while there was talk of bringing in more buses, the DTC was not able to run its entire fleet due to paucity of drivers.

As for Bluelines, he said, the Government lacked the will to phase them out and was resorting to gimmicks and lip service.

Charging that schools and hospitals were in a shambles, he said, hardly any new hospitals or colleges had been added in the last nine years. Also, not a single multi-storey parking had come up despite several announcements.
