ANANTAPUR: Zilla Parishad Chairperson T. Kavitha has asked the officials of housing department to speed up construction of Indiramma houses sanctioned in the first phase and ensure that all the beneficiaries occupied the houses by March. She also asked the officials to complete sanitation works too. Speaking at a review meeting with divisional officers, special officers, MPDOs and AEs here on Wednesday she also asked them to clear the bills for completed works, including those of Indiramma tanks completed last year. She cautioned that delay in payment of bills would adversely impact the progress of the scheme. District Collector N. Sridhar said Indiramma Prasthanam would be held in villages from January 27 to February 11 to ensure that all the houses sanctioned in the second phase progressed at least till basement level. About 1.10 lakh out of 2.2 lakh houses of the second phase had been grounded so far. During a field visit, the Collector asked the farmers under the tanks taken up for restoration under NREGS to involve themselves completely and ensure quality works. He launched the tank revival works at M.Bandameedipalli in Rapthadu mandal. The villagers could also get wage employment for jungle clearance and strengthening of bund.
