Power pacts signed

SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet on Wednesday signed two more agreements for power projects with private companies and received Rs.103.87 crore as upfront money. This was disclosed by State Chief Secretary Ravi Dhingra after the Cabinet meeting.

Mr. Dhingra said the Bijoli-Holi 180-MW project had been given to GMR Energy Limited and the Chatru 108-MW project to DCM-Shriram Infrastructure Limited with the understanding that they would have their sales depots in Himachal.

The Chief Secretary said the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme would start in all 12 districts of the State and be applicable from April 1. It has received funds worth Rs.5 crore for this.
