Corrections and clarifications

In ’Vimta Lab’s net profit improves’ (Snippets, Business, January 22, 2008), it was reported the company posted a gross revenue of Rs. 211.76 crore at the end of the third quarter. It should have been Rs. 21.17 crore, which is Rs. 4.3 crore higher than the corresponding period last year (not Rs. 40 crore as published). The EBITDA was Rs. 8.16 crore (not Rs. 81 crore). The net profit went up by Rs. 84 lakh.

The accompanying photo for the report “Satyam net profit up 29 p.c.” (Business, January 22, 2008) wrongly identified Ram Mynampati, president of Satyam’sCommercial and Healthcare division, who was in the picture, as CFO V. Srinivas.

In the report `Anand beats Topalov’ (Sport, January 22, 2008), Judit Polgar should have been on 3.5 points after the eighth round and not 5 as published.

Scorpions are poisonous, but they are not “insects” as mentioned in the Kurnool report, “Scorpion sport: Sting operation in public” (Andhra Pradesh, January 23, 2008). They are eight-legged anthropods, of the Arachnida class (same as spiders) and belong to the order scorpiones. Insects are of the Insecta class and have three pairs of legs.
