Corporate Reporter

CHENNAI: Regenix Drugs, engaged in manufacturing and marketing of healthcare products, is planning to open a chain of ‘Supermed’ pharmacy and surgical stores in Tamil Nadu. It intends to launch 200 such stores in the next two years. The investment required is Rs. 25 crore with Regenix contributing Rs. 5 crore and the balance will be met from private funding and bank loans.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, A. Ramamurthy, Chairman and Managing Director, said the first phase would have 50 stores out of which 10 will be opened shortly. The ‘supermed’ stores will sell a wide range of medicines, imported drugs and medical and surgical equipment initially.

Dr. Ramamurthy said Reginex Welch-Allyn, a group company, was already engaged in distributing Welch-Allyn products such as PC compatible ECG machines, and blood pressure monitoring apparatus.
