A brain-teasing session for the bright lot

Students from civil engineering and architecture colleges of North India to participate in the quizzes

Cash prize for national champions in ‘Archumen 2007-08’ and ‘Bending Moment 2007-08’ is Rs.25,000 each


NEW DELHI: All the colleges offering courses in architecture and civil engineering in Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir will battle it out for the top slots at an intelligence quotient event being organised at the Indian Institute of Technology here this Friday.

Popular event

Bringing together the student fraternity of architects and engineers under one platform, the Northern Interface of ‘Archumen 2007-08’ and ‘Bending Moment 2007-08’ will see participation of 150 teams. The top two teams from North India will get a chance to compete with the best in the country at the grand finale quiz in Bangalore on March 22.

While ‘Archumen’ has now become a popular event with architectural student community and is part of their annual calendar, ‘Bending Moment’ has proved to be a runaway success with the students of civil engineering across the country. The objective of hosting these two quizzes -- organised as four-zone events culminating in a national finale -- is to be the wind beneath the wings of these young minds that will shape the future of India in the years to come.

Quiz host

Quiz Master Giri “Pickbrain” Balasubramaniam, who is a well-known name in the quizzing fraternity among the students, will be hosting the quiz. The cash prize for the national champions in each of the events is Rs.25,000. While the national runners-up gets Rs.15,000, the second runners-up will win Rs.10,000. The regional winners will receive Rs.5,000, the runners-up will get Rs.3,000 and the second runners-up will walk home with Rs.2,000.

While ‘Archumen’ is being actively supported by the Indian Institute of Architects through its Young Architects Committee, ‘Bending Moment’ is being supported by the Civil Engineering Society of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Both the quizzes are flagship events of the organisation Ethos
