HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s supporters on Wednesday stepped up their offensive against Telangana protagonists for trying to defame Dr. Reddy, branding him as anti-Telangana. Taking strong objection to Nizamabad MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud’s remarks against Dr. Reddy, Energy Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir demanded that the Congress MP withdraw his comments and tender unconditional apologies to the Chief Minister. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he evaded replies when asked whether a complaint would be lodged with the party high command against Mr. Yaskhi saying that the future course of action would be decided after watching the latter’s response. Mr. Shabbir was critical of the senior leaders of the party, including CWC member G. Venkataswamy, for “blackmailing” the leadership through statements that are “causing harm to the party’s interests”. Reacting to these charges, Mr. Madhu Yaskhi told The Hindu on phone from New Delhi that there is no question of tendering an apology. “I did not make any personal or derogatory remarks against Dr. Reddy. I differed with his views in the interview given to a Telugu daily,” he pointed out.
