Thiruvananthapuram: The contribution of various women activists to the State’s social, economic, cultural and educational spheres since Independence has largely gone unnoticed. But not any more, the Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation has decided to rectify the anomaly. The corporation has launched www.keralawomen.org, a portal dedicated to the life and works of women who were in the forefront of development of the State in bye-gone eras. The portal will throw light on the recent developments in education, health, vocation, legal and other issues of social relevance to women. According to T.K. Manzoor, managing director of the corporation, all information useful to women such as the availability of guest houses, working women’s hostels, short stay homes, legal aid cells, marriage dispute redressal forums, pre-marital counselling centres, State protection offices, women and child hospitals, old age homes and voluntary organisations working for women empowerment will be included in the portal. The portal also has a discussion forum where readers can post their suggestions and views.
