Gram sabha meetings to be held in 158 panchayats

KARUR: Gram sabha meetings would be held in all the 158 panchayats in the district on Republic Day, according to Collector T.N. Venkatesh.

In a press release, Mr. Venkatesh has noted that the meetings would discuss on discrepancies pointed out in the panchayat audit reports, National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam, Namakku Naame Thittam, expenditure account, Total Sanitation Campaign, eradication of child labour, participation of women self-help groups, creating awareness among people on HIV/AIDS eradication etc.

Nagapattinam

Gram sabha meetings will be held in all the 434 village panchayats in the district on Republic Day, said Collector Tenkasi S.Jawahar. He appealed to the villagers to attend the meeting and discuss infrastructure facilities such as roads, streetlights and water supply required for their villages with the panchayat presidents and members.

He said that the panchayat presidents would submit a statement of accounts of income and expenditure of the respective panchayats at the meetings. Mr. Jawahar said that members of women self-help groups could also attend the meetings and represent their grievances, if any, at the meeting.
