Congress, TDP workers cross swords

Staff Reporter

Anti-TDP remark by Narnoor ZPTC member causes friction

ADILABAD: Adilabad Zilla Parishad Chairman Rathod Ramesh on Thursday lodged a complaint at Ichoda police station against five Congress workers for allegedly manhandling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) workers at the land distribution programme at Ichoda mandal headquarters. TDP and Congress workers clashed at the meeting following criticism made against Opposition party by Narnoor Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency member Hemlata belonging to the Congress.

Criticism

The ZPTC member criticised the TDP government for being anti-farmer.

A TDP public representative from Bazarhatnoor mandal objected to the criticism. This led to a clash between workers of the two parties following which the TDP public representatives at the meeting walked out.

Later, the ZP chairman arrived at the scene and lodged the complaint.

Earlier, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) rebel MLA from Boath constituency was asked to explain about his stand on Telangana by a few slogan-shouting TRS workers. The MLA said his roots were in Telangana.

Joint Collector G. Ravi Babu, Integrated Tribal Development Agency, Utnoor, Project Officer Saurabh Gaur and Ichoda Tahsildar G. Shiva Kumar were also present.
