“Jharkhand free from bird flu”

Ranchi: Jharkhand is free of bird flu, the Jharkhand Government has said dismissing reports of over 200 bird deaths in a section of the press.

Jharkhand Animal Husbandry Department secretary A K Sarkar said that only one chicken was found dead at Idd village, 35 km from here, contrary to the media reports.

“We have sent a team to the village and are awaiting its report,” he said adding about 40 blood and other relevant samples of the birds there were collected for tests.
