‘No tax on owners of pets’

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi is not considering levying any tax whatsoever on pet animals. In a statement on Thursday, MCD Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta reiterated that the civic body was not planning to tax owners of pet animals. “Contrary to what is being presumed, a proposal for increasing tax levied on animals used to draw vehicles has been under consideration of the Delhi Government since the past five years,” he said.
