Vinod Sridhar in last four

KOCHI: Tamil Nadu’s Vinod Sridhar, the top seed, brushed aside Kerala champion Rynold Timothy 6-1, 6-2 and entered the men’s semifinals of the Lotus Trophy all-India tennis tournament at the Lotus Club here on Thursday evening.

Karnataka’s third-seeded Arjun Goutham also made the last-four grade after packing off Jaco T. Mathew, the former national junior champion.

The results: Men’s quarterfinals: Vinod Sridhar (TN) bt Rynold Timothy (Ker) 6-1, 6-2; Arjun Goutham (Kar) bt Jaco T. Mathew (TN) 6-3, 6-4; Vijay Sunder Prasanth (TN) bt Sarath Lal (Ker) 6-0, 6-0; Kamala Kannan (TN) bt Sriram Balaji (TN) 6-2, 6-3.

Mixed doubles semifinals: Asha Nandakuamr (Kar) / Sriram Balaji (TN) bt Sneha Susan / Binu Mani (Ker) 6-0, 6-2; T. Anushree / Arjun Goutham (Kar) bt Jaco T. Mathew (TN) / Greeshma Roy (Ker) 6-2, 6-2. – Principal Correspondent
