GOT HIM: Pakistan’s Sohail Tanveer took four wickets against Zimbabwe in the second one-dayer of the series on Thursday.

HYDERABAD: Aggressive hitting by Shahid Afridi and the experience of Mohammad Yousuf got Pakistan out of a dangerous situation and led the home side to a five-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the second limited-overs international on Thursday.

Pakistan, chasing Zimbabwe’s 238-8, was cruising at 129-1 before Zimbabwe took three wickets for just 10 runs. Misbahul Haq was the fifth wicket to fall, with a further 61 runs needed for victory.

Afridi made an unbeaten 43 off 27 balls, while Yousuf was not out after a more watchful 38. The groundwork for Pakistan’s victory was laid by a 95-run second-wicket stand between teenage opening batsman Nasir Jamshed (74) and Younis Khan (35). Earlier, Zimbabwe was restricted to a modest score despite half centuries from Hamilton Masakadza (87) and former captain Tatenda Taibu (81).
