Two workers crushed to death

BANGALORE: Two workers from Rajasthan were crushed to death after they came under a huge marble slab which they were unloading from a truck Thursday.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 12.30 p.m. at a construction site on Kempe Gowda Nagar Main Road, off Chamarajpet. While eight workers were unloading marble slabs from the truck, which had brought the consignment from Rajasthan, the rope of the pulley snapped and a slab fell on three of them.

Buddaram (35) and Arshoof (34) were crushed to death. Fire and Emergency Service personnel removed the bodies from under the slab. Subedar has been admitted in Kempe Gowda Institute of Medical Sciences with serious injuries.

Chains snatched

Motorcycle-borne men snatched gold chains worth Rs. 1.25 lakh from three women in the city on Wednesday.

The police said the robbers snatched gold chains from two women in Vidyaranyapura. Around 8.30 p.m. the robbers relieved Florence of her gold chain worth Rs. 20,000 near her house in Raghavendra Block while she was returning home from hospital along with her relative.

Fifteen minutes later, they snatched a chain worth Rs. 60,000 from Vijaya Kumari Gururaj (51) in HMT Layout.

In another incident, two motorists snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 45,000 from Savithramma (50) in Rajarajeshwarinagar police station limits. The incident took place around 3.45 p.m. while Savithramma and her friend Prema were walking in BEML Layout, the police said.

Killed

Raj Kishore Sahu (26) was killed on the spot after a lorry hit the motorcycle he was riding on Hosur Road, off Konappana Agrahara, around 9.30 p.m. on Wednesday. The police said Sahu of Orissa was working as a manager in a private security agency here and was living in Jayanagar.
