NEW DELHI: A mix of French and Indian cuisine and symphonies awaits French President Nicolas Sarkozy at the banquet being hosted by President Pratibha Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Friday. Mr. Sarkozy who is on a State visit will be treated to a specially created dessert and music, some of which have been selected by Ms. Patil herself. The repertoire of music that will be played at the banquet includes French compositions of Fabian Lara, golden hits from old Hindi films and Mutthuswami’s “Hamsadhwani.”
While the guests’ feast on “kesar badam soup” followed by “stuffed pomfret” and “moong dal pizza”, they will be treated to Lara’s La Difference, Si Tu M’Aime and Leila. A selection of golden oldies will play in the background when “lamb Rajasthani”, “kurkuri bhindi”, “veg sauté”, “bharva Simla mirch”, “dal chola” and “navratna pulao” will be laid on the table for the State guests.
A chef is being flown in from Kerala to prepare a special tender coconut soufflé for the French President, who has not put forth any specific culinary preferences.
The soufflé, a French dessert, is being given an Indian flavour. To tickle the taste buds, a sumptuous Indian desert, “gajar ka halwa’ has also been included in the menu.
