This Day That Age
“In a Welfare State, the happiness of each citizen, particularly the common man, counts a great deal and it should be the duty of all those who are concerned with the public administration to attain the objective within the shortest possible period by ensuring the greatest happiness of the people at large,” observed Mr. Bishnuram Medhi, Governor of Madras, when broadcasting a message to the people of the State from the Madras Station of All India Radio, on January 24. He added: “I fully appreciate that I would be untrue to the faith as a humble follower of Mahatmaji if, while occupying that apparently high pedestal, we forget that we are one with the people.”
