JK Tyre tarmac rally

Coimbatore: The JK Tyre 100 per cent tarmac rally, the opening event in the Indian motor sport calendar, will be flagged off by Chandrasekhar, Managing Director, Wavetel, from the Maharaja Theme Park, on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Entries are still rolling in as the traffic congestion on the Salem Highway has delayed the Bangalore entrants from reaching the city. “It is very common for last minute entries to arrive in TSD format rallying. We have given them time till Saturday noon to complete all formalities,” said T. Ravichandran of Hi-Rew Motorsports, the organisers of the event.

Kikani posts win

Kikani HSS defeated CSI MHSS by five wickets in the CDCA under-17 inter-school cricket tournament for the T.S.S & Co. Trophy here on Friday.

The scores: Corpn. BHSS (Ramanathapuram) w/o Hindustan MHSS.

CSI MHSS 124 for three in 20 overs (Arvind Kumar 55) lost to Kikani HSS 126 for five in 18.5 overs.

Vidya Niketan 132 for five in 25 overs (Siddarth Kankani 62) lost to Chinmaya Vidyalaya 133 for eight in 23 overs.

Annamalai beats Kerala

Host Annamalai defeated Kerala 3-0 in a semifinal league encounter of the South Zone inter-university football tournament in Chidambaram on Friday. Devadoss, Ramesh and Sabith were the scorers.

Other results: Madras 3 (Vinoth 2, Elamurugan 1) bt Kerala 1 (Arun 1); Annamalai 1 (Ramesh 1) bt Calicut 0.

Easy for Sporting YFC

Sporting Youngsters FC scored a 2-0 win over Praise the Lord FC in a Tiruchi-DFA third division ‘A’ zone football league fixture here on Friday.

The results: Sporting Youngsters 2 (Karthik, Kallel) bt Praise the Lord 0; Dravidian 1 (Rajkumar 1) bt Thuvakudi 0.
