Indians sparkle

NEW DELHI: Junior Indian judokas, on Thursday, won four gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the 12th Commonwealth judo championship in Mauritius.

Women judokas O. Bidya Devi (44kg) and Garima Chaudhary (63kg) defeated Michelle Lourens of South Africa and Connie Ramsay of Scotland respectively to win gold medals. In the men’s section, Sandeep (56kg) and Kh. Yaima Singh (81kg) defeated Lee of New Zealand and Zack of Russia respectively in the final.

Manjeet Nandal (66kg) won silver medal while Rajinder Singh (90kg) settled for bronze in the men’s competition.
