Prasanth shines

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A fine all-round performance by Ranji star P. Prasanth (63 not out and three for 33) took City Cricketers to an upset win over Cordiant Tripunithura CC by 10 runs and into the semifinals of the 13th Celestial Trophy all-Kerala cricket tournament at the Medical College ground here on Friday.

Batting first, City Cricketers scored 172 in its allotted 30 overs. Fine spells by V.S. Shiju (three for 15) and P. Prasanth (three for 33) restricted Cordiant TCC to 162 for nine in 30 overs.

In another match, Cordiant Sports Foundation crushed Swantons CC by 100 runs to enter the semifinals.

The scores: City Cricketers 172 in 30 overs (P. Prasanth 63 n.o.) bt Cordiant TCC 162 for nine in 30 overs (V. Sajith 65).

Cordiant Sports Foundation 240 for seven in 30 overs (Madan Mohan 46, Prajith 42) bt Swantons CC 140 for eight in 30 overs. — Principal Correspondent
