BANGALORE: The Janata Dal (Secular) is examining the option of challenging the reservation list issued by the State Government for the posts of chiefs and deputy chiefs of urban local bodies in a court of law. Party spokesperson and MLC Y. S. V. Datta told The Hindu that a decision in this regard would be taken by the party by Monday. He said the reservation matrix had been drafted in such a way as to affect the chances of the Janata Dal (Secular) in the areas where it had won a majority of seats in the urban local bodies. According to sources, the party is considering the option of challenging the reservation list before the Karnataka High Court. BJP oppositionThe Bharatiya Janata Party has criticised the reservation list issued by the State Government. In a statement on Friday, BJP spokesperson S. Suresh Kumar termed the notification on the reservation list as a “blow to democracy.” He alleged that the reservation list clearly showed that the Congress was trying to establish control over administration as the reservation list favoured the Congress. He urged the Governor’s administration to clarify what was the parameter which was adopted for preparing such a reservation list.
