Budget funds sanctioned to local bodies

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has sanctioned a sum of Rs.27,49,99,500 as the 10th instalment from the budget for 2007-08 for the day to day functioning of local bodies. The five city corporations will get Rs.3.33 crore, 14 district panchayats will get Rs.75 lakh, municipalities Rs.2.17 crore, block panchayats Rs.1.11 crore and grama panchayats Rs.20.11 crore from the amount. The government has also sanctioned a sum of Rs.153.66 crore as the 9th instalment under the People’s Plan scheme also from the budget for 2007-08 for the development of the local bodies.
