Rohan, Arjan shine

Nataraj, Rashmi win

M. Nataraj (Indian Airlines) and Rashmi Kumari (BSNL) won the men’s and women’s singles titles respectively in the all-India PSU carrom tournament.

Other results: Singles: Men’s runner-up: Yogesh Pardesi (IOCL); Women’s runner-up: Bhanudas.

Easy for B.S. Mootha

B.S. Mootha defeated St. Ebba’s 25-7, 25-11 in the girls’ section of the inter-school volleyball tournament conducted by the Nellai Friends Club here on Thursday.

The results (semifinals): Boys: Don Bosco (Perambur) bt Santhome 25-18, 25-15; DRBCC (Perambur) bt AJS Nidhi 16-25, 25-21, 25-22.Girls: B.S. Mootha bt St. Ebba’s 25-7, 25-11; Corporation Girls (Nungambakkam) bt Christkint 25-6, 25-19.

Vivek in final

Tamil Nadu’s Vivek Reddy and C. Jasper entered the above-45 final of the T.S. Santhanam memorial national veterans’ clay court tennis tournament at the Mylapore Club on Friday.

TNSP posts win

TNSP defeated Soccer Club 2-1 in a CFA senior division league match at the Nehru Stadium here on Friday. L. Kanakaraj and M. Murugan found the mark for TNSP. David reduced the margin for Soccer Club.

SRM clinches title

SRM University won the first Tamil Nadu inter-university cricket tournament, conducted by the Sri Ramachandra University for the Thiru N.P.V. Ramasamy Udayar Trophy, recently. Annamalai University was the runner-up, and was given the Tmt. Kamalam Ramasamy Udayar Trophy. Arjun Sarathy (SRM University) was named Man-of-the-Match, and Vijay Rahul (SRM University), the Man of the Tournament.
