Sreesanth makes children’s day
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: It was one of the best days for children of the Government Primary and High School at Malleswaram on Saturday. For, one of the younger icons of cricket, S. Sreesanth, turned up at the school for the inauguration of their two new primary classrooms.
The pace bowler was mobbed by screeching students, including the senior ones of the college attached to the school premises. He obliged a few of them with autographs before being overwhelmed by the sheer number of admirers.
M.R. Seetaram, former Malleswaram MLA, accompanied him.
“The children are lovely and education can take them a long way,” he said, addressing the gathering,
The classrooms were built by the Ladies Circle India (LCI) under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) for the development of education.
“Our motto is Educate to Enlighten and we provide on the basis of need of the child. We are keen on increasing the literacy rate of girls in India,” said Bina, project convener, LCI.
S.M. Ramesh, Deputy Project Coordinator, SSA, Bangalore North, said: “Our main aim is to educate every poor child who is deprived of education due to their financial status.”
