MAS Holdings to begin operations from this year-end, says Minister

APIIC to establish SEZ for leather industries at Tada in 283 acres

Kisan SEZ to come up at Regidichelika and Racharlapudi villages


NELLORE: MAS Holdings Private Limited, which is setting up an apparel park at Chintavaram with an investment of US $ 200 million, will begin its production from this year-end, according to Women and Child Welfare Minister N. Rajyalakshmi.

The MAS fabric park, which specialises in the operations of industrial parks, has commenced its construction work to open a Special Economic Zone at Chintavaram of Chillakur mandal in 714 acres as a second phase expansion into India.

It is expected to offer direct employment to around 30,000 persons.

Caparo group

This apart Caparo group will also establish an automobile related industry at Menakur while the biggest-ever-integrated alloy steel project in the country, the Special Bar Quality (SBQ) Steels Limited will offer jobs to around 2,000 persons, the Minister said.

She was addressing a gathering at the police parade grounds on the occasion of 59th Republic Day here on Saturday.

Land acquisition

Highlighting various achievements of the State Government, she said that land acquisition process pertaining to both the 4,000 MW ultra mega power project and 1,600 MW thermal power project had already been completed. At the same time two more power projects __ Meenakshi and Simhapuri __ would also come up at Tamminapatnam and Momidi near Krishnapatnam.

Exclusive SEZ

Moreover, the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) would soon establish a SEZ exclusively for leather industries at Tada in 283 acres. And the first-ever agriculture-based food processing Kisan SEZ in the country would come up at Regidichelika and Racharlapudi villages of Kodavalur mandal.

The Minister dwelt at length about several welfare programmes and developmental activities being taken up by the ruling Congress led by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

She said the State Government was making huge allocations for various welfare schemes in the State.

Several MLAs, District Collector M. Ravi Chandra, Superintendent of Police B. Malla Reddy and other senior officials as well as elected representatives were also present.
