Staff Reporter

KARIMNAGAR: Maoists shot dead three former naxalites branding them as police informers in the interior Borlagudem village of Mahamutharam mandal in the wee hours of Saturday.

Superintendent of Police Y. Gangadhar told The Hindu that 15 to 20 armed Maoists led by Karimnagar West Division committee secretary Damodar alias Bade Chokka Rao went to the Borlagudem village and woke up Bukya Raju Naik by knocking the door. While the naxalites were talking to his parents, Raju tried to escape. But, the naxalites opened fire with AK-47 killing him on the spot. Raju Naik earlier worked with the Janashakthi naxalite group and surrendered in 2005.
