Three held with arms

Muzaffarpur: Three members of a criminal gang were arrested with weapons including an AK-47 rifle and carbines in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district on Satruday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off that some hardened criminals were on way from Samastipur to Muzaffarpur to commit a crime, a team from Sakra police station intercepted four motorcyclists near Sihchowk following which they opened fire, Superintendent of Police Ratan Sanjay told PTI.

The police retaliated and one of them was hit by a bullet but he managed to escape, the SP said.

Those arrested have been identified as Rohit Kumar, Ganesh Kumar and Pankaj Kumar, the Superintendent of Police said, adding that they were wanted in a number of cases of murder, extortion and bank robberies.
