Roja demands Jana’s resignation

Sangareddy: Telugu Mahila State president Roja demanded Home Minister K. Jana Reddy to own up responsibility for the spurt in attacks on women in the State and tender his resignation. She also demanded an ex gratia of Rs. 5 lakh for a 17-year-old girl who was allegedly raped.

The Telugu Mahila chief and the district Telugu Desam party president Mainampalli Hanumantha Rao visited the ‘rape’ victim at the girl’s residence here on Saturday and inquired about the incident. The TDP delegation then took the girl and her mother to the camp office of the district Superintendent of Police R.B. Nayak and formally requested him to arrest the culprits. He said he would that he would recommend the transfer of the girl’s mother to her native district if she could approach the Collector. Later, speaking to reporters here, Roja said that the government has failed in protecting women .
